Saloni was born in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra into a Sindhi-speaking family as Vandana. Her father was a Customs Officer. The family moved to CGS quarters at Wadala, Mumbai, when she was around 5 years old. It is here she started getting interested in acting.

After completing school, she enrolled in Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University (SNDT) near New Marine Lines/Churchgate, Mumbai, and after graduating in Psychology, she took acting lessons in Ashok Kumar's Acting Academy, run by his daughter, Preeti Ganguly.

Throughout her academic career, she had always participated in dramas, especially mimicking Sridevi. She also participated with a theater group "Kala Sansad". Her initial appearances were in commercials from Vaseline, Lifebuoy, Parachute Oil, Moove, Chic shampoo, Three roses tea, Meera soaps, etc.

She made her acting debut in the 2003 Hindi film Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya, directed by Sawaan Kumar Tak, who rechristened her as Saloni. She then got to appear in her first Telugu film Dhana 51 (2005) and followed it up with Oka Oorillo. 2006 she starred in five films, performing lead roles in Chukkallo Chandrudu and Kokila in Telugu and Rehguzar and Saawan: The Love Season in Hindi. She also did a special appearance for the film Boss: I Love You. 2007 she debuted in Tamil, starring in the film Madurai Veeran, which was her only release that year. Also in 2008, she had only one release with Budhivanta, her Kannada debut. The 2009 Kannada film Dubai Babu also featured her in a pivotal role, before her next Telugu film Magadheera released, in which she essayed a minor supporting role. She has enacted a lead role in S. S. Rajamouli's latest venture Maryada Ramanna with Sunil as the protagonist.

Priya Anand (Tamil: ப்ரியா ஆனந்த்) is an Indian film actress and model who appears in Tamil and Telugu films. She appeared in several popular Tamil and Telugu films including, Vaamanan^[1] and Leader.^[2]

Early life

Born on 17 September in Chennai, Priya is the only child of Radha, a Tamilian mother and Bharadwaj Anand, a half Telugu, half Marathi father.^[3] Because of her mixed regional background, she was brought up in both her parents' hometowns, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh, becoming fluent in both Tamil and Telugu.^[3] Besides her mother tongues, Priya is proficient in Hindi, English, which she usually spoke at home,^[4] Bengali and Spanish languages as well.^[3]

Priya, who describes herself as "naturally extremely hyperactive", became fascinated by films, developing an interest in cinema, since childhood, and noted that she has been dreaming of getting into the film industry and working on technical aspects of film making, but confesses she never thought of becoming an actor.^[3][4] She moved to the U. S., where she pursued her higher studies.^[4] Keeping her later career in mind, she studied Communications and Journalism at University of Albany.^[3] After completing her education, she returned to India in 2008 and since, stays with her grandparents in Chennai. However, she then ventured into modeling, appearing in various television commercials like Nutrine Maha Lacto, Prince Jewellery and Cadbury Dairy Milk.^[3]

Career

She was subsequently receiving acting offers from directors, who had seen her television commercials. She was initially supposed to make her acting debut in the Tamil film Pugaippadam, which she signed up first, but since its release was delayed until 2010, her first release became the action-thriller Vaamanan, directed by newcomer Ahmed. She was assigned for the project in late 2008 to portray Divya, a simple girl next door, whom the male lead character, essayed by Jai, would fall in love with. The film created some anticipation before its release, mainly due to its hit music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, enabling a big opening,^[5][6] but fared only averagely at the Chennai box office. In 2010, three of her films released within short span, the first on New Year 2010, which was the college-life based drama Pugaippadam, a film revolving around friendship between seven students; Priya enacted the charcater of one of the student roles, a Malayali Christian named Shiney George.^[7] The film opened to mixed reviews and proved to be commercially unsuccessful. She next starred in her first Telugu film, AVM Productions' Sekhar Kammula directed political drama Leader, alongside newcomers Rana Daggubati and Richa Gangopadhyay. She recalls that an assistant director of Kammula had found her on Facebook and invited her and how he she had to audition thrice for the film to prove herself and eventually get the offer.^[3][4] She played Ratna Prabha, a television channel owner and friend to a young man, who would later go on to become a political leader. Although her screen presence in the film was very limited, her performance garnered overwhelming response and was well received,^[2][8] while the film itself earned positive reviews and became a critical success.^[3] The Dil Raju-produced family entertainer Rama Rama Krishna Krishna is her most recent release, in which she plays the love interest of the film's male protagonist. She is currently working on a bilingual Tamil-Telugu project by noted ad filmmaker Jayendra, in which she would act opposite Siddharth.^[9]

Arthi Agarwal (also Arti Agarwal, Aarti Agarwal; Telugu: ఆర్తి అగర్వాల్; born January 27, 1977 in New Jersey, U.S.) is an Indian actress in Tollywood. She was brought up in New Jersey until the age of 14.^[1] Sunil Shetty invited her to dance on stage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA when she was barely 14. Bachchan who was there too encouraged her father to take her to Bollywood. The event where Sunil Shetty invited to the stage was at Nassa Colliseum, in New York City. At the end of the Bollywood award night, Sunil asked for volunteers from the audience and Arti was one among them. As a result, she did her first film Paagalpan in Hindi in 2001, but it was not a hit.^[2] She did her first Tollywood movie Nuvvu Naaku Nachav with Telugu actor Venkatesh in 2001, which was more successful.^[1] Arthi’s younger sister Adithi has joined in films. Adithi acted in Allu Arjun's Gangotri. She has the distinction of being cast with Tollywood "fabfour" - Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna and Venkatesh. Vijayashanti is an actress and a politician. She acted in over 185 movies in seven languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. She was born in Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India on 24 June 1966. She is credited as "The Lady Superstar" in telugu films. She praised lot of being a succesfull actress and political leader in south india.

Background and career

Vijayashanti, whose given name was 'Shanti', is a politician and is the elected MP from the Medak constituency in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Prior to joining politics in 2004, she was a leading actress in Telugu and Tamil films. She began her acting career in 1979 at the age of 13 as the leading lady in the Tamil film Kallukkul Eeram ("Stones Have Tears") directed by the legendary Tamil film-maker Bharati Raja. The same year, she debuted in her native Telugu with the movie Kilaadi Krishnudu ('Cunning Krishna'), pairing opposite superstar Krishna. For the first few years, she portrayed mostly glamour roles. Notable among them is her role in the Telugu film Satyam-Shivam (1981), the cast of which included the two legends of Telugu Cinema - NTR,and ANR.

Glamour Queen & Dream Girl

Vijayashanti's first break as a performer came in the 1983 Telugu film Neti Bharatam directed by T. Krishna. The next few years saw her in performance-oriented roles (Desamlo Dongalu Paddaaru, Vandemaataram, Pratighatana, Aruna kiranam, Repati Pourulu, Devalayam, etc), and in glamorous roles (Challenge, Desodhdhaarakudu, Pasivaadi Praanam, Muddula Krishnaiah, Agni Parvatam, Gang Leader etc). By 1985 she was exclusively acting in Telugu films. She became one of the Glamour Queen^{[disambiguation needed]} of the telugu film industry.

As an action heroine and mass entertainer

In the blockbuster movie Karthavyam (1990), her performance as a tough cop (modeled after real-life supercop Kiran Bedi) won her the National Film Award from Indian Government and an Andhra Pradesh State award for best actress. The success of this movie saw her moving away from glamorous roles and limiting herself to tough lady roles. These tough lady roles made her a lady super star in telugu.

In 1990, Kartavyam was dubbed into Tamil as Vijayanthi IPS and its success brought her actress in Tamil cinema as well. (It was also remade in Hindi as Tejaswini, with herself playing the lead role. As expected, Tejaswini did very well at the Hindi box-office). Following the success of Vijayanthi IPS, the producers of her films began releasing Tamil versions of her movies simultaneously with the Telugu Movies. After she started concentrating on Action roles.

A lady superstar of telugu cinema

She was treated as one of the superstars in the telugu cinema.

Two of her very close friends are Suhasini Mani Ratnam who has been instrumental in improving her hair dressing skills and her competitor Radha , with whom she shares special friendships. In fact, in one of the interviews to a Telugu magazine, Vijayashnathi has mentioned that she considers Suhasini as her elder sister who has been protective of her in her difficult times.

Political career

In 1997, she started her political career by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Soon she was made the secretary of BJP's Women's Wing (Bharateeya Mahila Morcha). During the 1999 Indian general elections, she was named BJP's contestant from the Cuddapah Lok Sabha seat against Sonia Gandhi of Congress(I) (however, she withdrew from the race after Sonia Gandhi decided to contest from Bellary). She started her own political party, Talli Telangana, which merged into Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in January 2009.

From 1999 her movie appearances decreased as she focused on her political career. By 2004, she had stopped signing new films. In 2009 General Election of 15th Lok Sabha she won Medak seat. Now she is actively involved in telangana politics..^[1]

Vanisri was born in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1948. Actor S V Ranga Rao gave her screen name Vanisri.

Her first film was Marapurani Kadha. She gained attention with a supporting role in the sister role in K. Balachander's film Sukha Dukhalu, where the famous song "idi mallela velayani" was picturized on her. She became a heroine and held the top spot through most of the 1970s.

Vanisri had several super hit and silver jubilee movies, such as Krishnaveni, Prema Nagar, Dasara Bullodu, Aradhana, Jeevitha Chakram, Rangula Ratnam, Shri Krishna Tulabharam, Bhakta Kannappa, and Bobbili Raja, etc. She played dual roles in Iddaru Ammayilu (1972), Ganga Manga (1973 remake of the Hindi film Seeta Aur Geeta), Jeevana Jyothi (1975), and Chilipi Krishnudu (1978). She financed and starred in Shyam Benegal's only Telugu film Anugraham (1977), co-starring Smita Patil. She acted with Sivaji Ganesan in a number of films such as Uyarntha Manithan (1968), Nirai Kudam (1969), Vasantha Maligai (1972), Sivakamiyin Selvan (1974), Vani Rani (1974) and Nallathoru Kudumbam (1979). In the late 1970s, Vanisri left films to get married and have a son and a daughter.

Vanisri returned to film in the late 1980s acting in mother roles, such as her character in Attaku Yamudu-Ammayiki Mogudu (1989). She was also in the 1999 hindi film Main Tere Pyar Mein Pagal directed by Telugu director K. Raghavendra Rao. She often portrays arrogant mothers-in-law or aunts. Vanisri has acted in television serials as well.

She also worked as politician in Congress party.

Khushboo was born in a Muslim family; she has three brothers.

Khushboo started her career in the 1980s as a child artist. Her first movie appearance was Thodisi Bewafaii (1980) where she had an uncredited role. She had her first credited role in the 1981 film Laawaris. Since then, she has acted in over 100 movies, some opposite leading actors like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Sathyaraj, and Prabhu. She played the role of the sister of Anil Kapoor in the 80s hit Meri Jung, and danced with Javed Jaffrey in his first dancing role on screen in the superhit song "Bol Baby Bol, Mere Sang Dol".

Kushboo was introduced to South India through the Telugu movie Kaliyuga Pandavulu Opp Venkatesh, under the direction of K Raghavendra Rao.

She is known for her TV show Jackpot and her serials Kalki, Janani and Kungumam.

Apart from Tamil movies, she has also acted in various movies in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam.

In Kannada, She has acted in many movies with Ravichandran notably Ranadheera (1987), Anjada Gandu, Shanthi Kranthi and Yugapurusha.

In 2005, there was a well-publicized controversy about her remarks in an interview for AIDS awareness, about the need for protective sex: she said it was fine for girls to have pre-marital sex — but not without taking precautions to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Later, she added that no educated man should expect his wife or girlfriend to be a virgin.^[2] Two political parties lashed out at her because of her remarks: the Dalit Panthers of India and the Pattali Makkal Katchi.^[3] She was ordered to court and her counsel offered to withdraw the previously issued anticipatory bail petition. The judge acceded and dismissed the petition as withdrawn.^[3] The Supreme Court dismissed all cases registered against South Indian film actress and activist Khusboo for her alleged remarks on pre-marital sex.^[4]

Kushboo's fans built a temple dedicated to her at Tiruchirapalli, but protesters razed it following her controversial comments in 2005 about pre-marital sex and AIDS.^[5]

Khusboo made a statement in April 2010 that she would be entering into politics soon before the 2011 assembly elections and later joined the DMK, by signing her membership form at the party headquarters in Chennai.^[6]

Khushboo is married to actor-director Sundar C, and she converted to Hinduism after they got married.^[5] They have two daughters named Avanthika and Ananditha, after whom they have named their production house. She has been living in Chennai for the past twenty years. She also has three brothers. Her brother Abdullah is expected to make his debut in the movie industry, playing the lead role in the movie Netru pol inru illai.^[7]

Sumalatha reportedly speaks six languages, and has acted in four.^[2] She is married to great actor and Karnataka politician Ambareesh,^[3] and is a close friend of actress Suhasini Maniratnam, her co-star in a Telugu movie. The friendship between the two provided the material for a candid scene in the film, when director Kodandarami Reddy noticed Suhasini combing Sumalatha's long hair on the train journey to the film set. Reddy asked his cameraman, Ashok Reddy, to film the two, and added the scene to the movie's final cut.^[4]

She has acted in many Telugu films. She received the best actress Nandi Award for her role in Sruthilayalu in 1987. She co-starred with Rajendra Prasad (actor) in Jayammu Nishchayammu Raa and Donga Kollu; with Chiranjeevi in Swayamkrushi, Gangleader, Veta, Raakshasudu, Kaidhi, Chattam tho Poratam, Agnigundam and Sri Manjunatha. Sridevi was born in a Meenampatti village near Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu in Virudhu Nagar district. Her mother tongue is Tamil.^[4] Her father Ayyapan, was a lawyer, and her mother's name was Rajeswari, who moved to Madras from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. Sridevi has a sister, Srilatham, and two stepbrothers Satish and Anand from her father's previous marriage. Her cousins, Maheswari and Karthik have also appeared in films.

Sridevi started her career as a child artist in the Tamil movie Kandhan Karunai playing the role of Lord Muruga^[5] (1967) and acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies. During her early teens, she acted in a number of Telugu,Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam movies as a lead heroine.she acted in lot of telugu movies, i.e. padaharella vayasu, vetagadu, jagadekaveerudu athilokasundari, kshanakshanam. Many of her Malayalam movies were directed by I. V. Sasi, some examples being Aadhyapaadam, Aalinganam, Kuttavum Sikshaiyum, Aa Nimisham.

In 1976, she got her first big break as a heroine in K. Balachander's Parallel Cinema Moondru Mudichu, where she starred opposite Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. Sridevi then followed with a succession of films with both Haasan and Rajnikanth. With the former, she was in movies such as Guru, Sankarlal, Sigappu Rojakkal, Thaayillamal Naanillai, Meendum Kokila, Vaazhve Maayam, Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu, Neela Malargal, Moondram Pirai, 16 Vayathinile. With Rajnikanth, she appeared in movies such as Dharmayuddham, Priya, Pokkiri Raja, Thanikattu Raja, 'Adutha Varisu, Nan Adimai Illai.

At the same time, Sridevi made Telugu language movies, a number of which were made by K. Raghavendra Rao. With N. T. Rama Rao, she acted in movies such as Konda Veeti Simham, Vetagadu, Sardar Paparayudu and Bobbili Puli. With A. Nageswara Rao, she appeared in movies such as Mudulla Koduku, Premabhishekham, Bangaru Kanku, and Premakanuka. In 1978, she starred in her first Hindi film, Solva Saawan. Her second movie, Himmatwala with Jeetendra whom she also appeared with in Tohfa, Mawaali and Justice Chaudhury. In 1983, Sridevi starred opposite Kamal Hasan in the drama Sadma, remade from the Tamil hit Moondram Pirai starring the same lead actors. The film earned Sridevi her first Filmfare nomination for Best Actress.

Sridevi films in the '80s included Justice Chowdhary, Jaani Dost, Mawaali, Maqsad, Tohfa, Karma, Aakhree Raasta, Jaanbaaz, Ghar Sansar, Nagina, Mr India, Suhagan, and Aulad. In 1988's Chaalbaaz, she played a double-role as twin sisters which won her the first Hindi Filmfare Best Actress Award. The same year also received an nomination for Yash Chopra's Chandni. Chopra again directed her in Lamhe (1991), where Sridevi plays a double-role act as mother and daughter won her a second Hindi Filmfare Best Actress Award.

She followed it with Khuda Gawah in 1992, where she had a double role as a pining Afghan wife, opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The Telugu film Kshana Kshanam was released in the same year and afforded her another Filmfare Best Actress Award and a Nandi Award. These nominations were followed by another performance as an innocent victim trapped in a Hong Kong prison in Mahesh Bhatt's Gumrah and a negative role in Laadla. For her performance in the drama Judaai (1997), she got her last Filmfare nomination after which she left the industry to marry filmmaker Boney Kapoor and raise their two daughters, Jhanavi and Khushi.

After a six-year hiatus, Sridevi returned to the small screen, briefly, in the Sahara sitcom Malini Iyer (2004–2005). She also appeared on Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai for Karisma Kapoor (2004) and as a judge in the TV show Kaboom (2005). She performed a medley of some of her music at the 52nd Filmfare Awards 2007. She is a member of the Board of Directors at the Asian Academy of Film & Television.

On 19 September 2009, Sri Devi Appeared on Sony TV show 10 Ka Dum, the famous game show hosted by Salman Khan. On the episode; Sridevi and Boney Kapoor were the guests, along with actor-director Prabhudeva, actor Ayesha Takia and the musical duo Sajid-Wajid, all of whom had come to promote their magnum opus Wanted.

Sridevi also developed passion for painting which has gone international. In March 2010, Her paintings have been chosen by a reputed international art auction house. The auction will start in April and all the money raised by this auction will be donated.^[6]
